Jack Britt tight end Eric MacLain, 6-foot-5, 245 pounds out of Fayetteville, N.C., received an offer from Auburn Monday. He was a little surprised. It was the first he'd heard from the Tigers.

MacLain was set to visit Tennessee on Tuesday. After receiving the offer from the Tigers, he added a visit to Auburn. MacLain thought he'd check Auburn out, take the standard tours and meet the standard personnel.

A "meet-and-greet visit", he called it.

"I was wrong," MacLain said. "It turned into a very serious visit for me. I was definitely shocked. It was really great and pretty unexpected....
