Hot Prospects from CajunProspects Combine
The hot spring afternoon brought out hot prospects to Independence Stadium in Shreveport, La. for the CajunProspects Combine. Over 50 prospects from across northern Louisiana came out for the event that saw prospects from the 2012 - 2014 classes participate in drills ranging from the traditional 40-yard dash and agility drills, to the new kneeling power ball toss.
Here are some of the standouts from the event:
2012 | Garrett Chandler
| Chandler will look to make the move from guard to center this season. He showcased his good agility skills with a 4.84 in the shuttle. He is also in the process of learning how to deep snap, having attended a center camp at Ohio State. | Richard Jefferson
| Jefferson recorded the third fastest 40-yard time with a 4.57. His solid coverage skills were also on display at the end of the camp where he did not allow a completion in coverage. | Steele Merritt
| Merritt showed that he can be a legit D1 prospect this season, a year removed from being sidelined with a broken leg. His 42 foot power ball toss was second best at the combine, while he recorded a 4.6 40 time and 2.52 20 yard time. |
2014 | Chris Lewis
| Hands down the fastest at the combine, Lewis recorded a 4.4 electronic time in the 40-yard dash and excelled in the other events. He closed out the combine with a great display of his route running and catching abilities in one-on-one drills. |
