Canzeri prepared to play
Going into his freshman year at Iowa, running back Jordan Canzeri is not sure if he is going to play or redshirt, but is preparing like he is going to be on the field. Canzeri has added muscle to his frame by working out multiple times every day this spring to get ready for college. The New York native talks about his future with the Hawkeyes, what number he will be wearing, and much more.
Q: How much high school do you have left?
CANZERI: I graduate on June 24.
Q: What has it been like as you wind down your senior year and get ready for college?
CANZERI: It's been good. It kind of gives you the chills just thinking about how soon it's going to come. I know everybody misses their friends, but college is college. I'm going to play football and that's what I love to do. That's what I've been working for my whole life. It's going to be a big change, but it's really exciting knowing that I'm going to be playing at a level like this.
As a senior, Canzeri put up huge numbers with 2,048 yards rushing and 33 touchdowns at Troy High School, earning several all-state and player of the year honors along the way. After originally committing to Villanova, he picked up late scholarship offers from Iowa, Indiana, and Connecticut, and switched to the Hawkeyes the day before signing day.
