Athletic Brendel adjusting to new position

AggieYell.com Plano East lineman Jake Brendel moved to Texas prior to his freshman year from the small town of Waunakee, Wisconsin. Despite a lack of competition in his formative years for a player his size, the big junior adapted well to his new surroundings where football is king. He was named Newcomer of the Year in the district as a freshman defensive tackle and was an all-district selection as a sophomore at the position. However, Brendel has continued to grow while maintaining his 40-yard dash time of 4.9 seconds. His frame and height suggested that he might be better served by a switch to the offensive line. As a result, he is going through yet another major transition on the football field.
