Scouting Reports

Pros: Huff played both cornerback and strong safety in 2005 with most of his reps at the strong safety position. He has big-play ability as a defender, combining size, speed and quickness with the agility and ball instincts to play immediately. He has the talent to become a top-flight starting safety or corner. He has the athletic ability that allows him to be a top ball-hawk in coverage, in addition to being a hard nosed run-support defender. He has excellent combination of size and versatility, has played and been productive at every position in the secondary during his college career. He played mostly safety of late, but many scouts project him at corner in the NFL. He made all the calls in the secondary and did a lot in guiding and helping to develop his teammates. His range and recovery speed are excellent. He has fine overall body strength. He has a feel for recognizing routes and reading the intentions of the quarterback. He is a reliable tackler from sideline to sideline. He is a high-character guy who would be a team-leader in the secondary.
Cons: He hopes to avoid the situation that happened to Tebucky Jones, a former No. 1 pick at 6-1, 235, with sub-4.4 speed. Jones had safety experience, but was moved to corner as a rookie and failed miserably.
Numbers: At the Combine, he ran the 40-yard dash in times of 4.37 and 4.35 seconds with a split of 1.47 in the first ten yards. He had a 40.5” vertical jump and 10’6” broad jump and also did 21 reps the 225-pound bench press.
