Jones is itching to join the Longhorn program

When Kilgore defensive end Dominique Jones first committed to Texas in February, he was a relative unknown to the recruiting world.

Although he sported offers from the likes of Texas A&M, Oklahoma State and Tulsa, Jones' wasn't a player that had received much attention before he gave his verbal commitment to Mack Brown on February 23rd.

A little more than a month later and it appears that almost every school that recruits the state of Texas has stumbled upon the 6-3, 230-pound Jones. However, as the overtures from schools across the nation start to roll in, Jones has one simple message for everyone.

Don't bother.

"Since I committed, a lot of schools have come after me but it doesn't matter," Jones said. I've heard from Illinois, Nebraska, Texas Tech, Arkansas - really there are a lot of them. LSU, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Harvard, Stanford and I've even heard from Brown. I don't really pay any attention to it because I'm happy with my commitment to Texas. I'm exactly where I want to be."

Jones' strong feelings toward the Longhorn program were reinforced this weekend after he had a chance to take in the annual spring jamboree with the rest of the 2009 recruiting class.

"I had a good time. I had a real good time," Jones said. "The main thing was that I hadn't seen them n action yet this spring. They looked real good. The defense looked fast and aggressive. I thought they looked great. The way they were playing, that's exactly how I like to play. I think I will fit in real well."

Jones added that the entire experience was something that he'll remember for a long time and it has left him counting down the days until he can put on a Longhorn uniform.

"The game was great. We were walking around the locker room and when the team came out of the tunnel, we were right behind them and we were just chilling," Jones said. "When we came out behind the team, it just made me want to get down there right away. I can't wait until I can get down there."
