Hopkins names his top two choices
Barring any unforeseen developments, Gonzaga Prep (Spokane, Wash.) defensive lineman Charlie Hopkins is content selecting from one of the five offers he's accumulated in the last two months, but his most recent two visits are at the top of his list.
"I went to Stanford and U-dub over spring break and I'd say that those two are at the top of my list right now," Hopkins said. "But I'm not ready to make a decision yet."
This is an about-face for Hopkins, who seemed to prefer Washington State just weeks ago. He must have really liked what he saw during both of his visits this past week.
A much sought-after recruit, Hopkins holds offers from Idaho, Oregon State, Stanford, Washington and Washington State. While the 6-6, 240-pound lineman isn't quite near a decision, he spoke with the finality of someone who has all of his options laid out in front of him.
"I'm going down to Oregon for their junior day and I might make another trip to Washington State," Hopkins said. "And I've been thinking about Boise State lately, but if they don't offer, it won't affect my decision much."
The Broncos have also expressed interest.
Helping the Bullpups to a 7-3 record in 2009, Hopkins finished the season with 10 sacks to go along with a interception and a blocked punt on defense while playing tight end on offense. He also participated in the U.S. Army Combine.
