Amaro still being pursued

San Antonio (Texas) Macarthur tight end Jace Amaro continues to get closer to bringing his recruitment to an end on National Signing Day. Rivals' 4th ranked tight end has been committed to the Red Raiders since April and is ready to make it official in February.

"I'm looking forward to being done with it, honestly. I've had my mind made up for a while so it's just kind of been something I have to go through," Amaro said. "I appreciate all of the attention and I try to tell other coaches from the beginning that I'm solid with Tech. I understand, though. Everyone wants to try and pull off something big before February."

Amaro has recently seen two new programs enter the mix for his services.

"I didn't have anybody new for a while, but I've started to hear some from Auburn and Oregon. I've just been getting some emails, and mail. Stuff like that."

The 6-foot-5, 237-pounder will be in Lubbock next month for an official visit.

"I'll be there in January, the weekend of the 21st," he said. "I think all of the other commits are supposed to be in town that same weekend. It should be a lot of fun."

"We've all been able to build a relationship for a while now and it's always fun when we can get together. We all believe we've got something special going on with this 2011 class and we're not done yet. Hopefully we can add a few more guys and really round this thing out. We're going to have a great chance to win a lot of games in the future. It's going to be fun."

Amaro committed to Texas Tech in April over offers from Arizona, Arkansas, Baylor, Duke, Missouri, Rice, Texas A&M, Tulsa, and Virginia.
