Richardson Remains Open

Nashville (TN) Pearl-Cohn offensive tackle Antonio Richardson has yet to trim his laundry list of offers, which spans from SEC country to the West Coast. Lanny Richardson is helping guide his son through the recruiting process.

"He has 28 or 29 scholarship offers," said Lanny. "That's where it stands. He's open right now."

Planning official visits is the first order of business for the Richardsons

"We're thinking about setting up some official visits. Today, we were trying to get one set up with LSU. We're in the process of getting that one set up. We might go down to Miami, too. We've been to most of the places in the SEC. We can drive back to most of those schools if we need to. We're just going to use the official visits to go to the schools that are far in distance. We might go out to either or both of the schools in Los Angeles (USC and UCLA). Right now, we'll probably visit both of them. He has an offer from both schools.

"We haven't started to trim things down yet. Antonio is playing the U.S. Army All-American Game on January 8th. We'll go on the officials after the game. Alabama is a school that is definitely still in the mix. We still talk to their coaching staff pretty often. We haven't decided if we will take an official to Alabama or not at this point, but we have been down there several times and loved everything about it. Antonio really liked Alabama growing up."

With February 2nd creeping ever closer, signing day could be a busy one for Richardson.

"It's probably looking like a singing day decision. He's actually playing in the USA vs. World Game on signing day in Austin, Texas. It's a game where 45 of the best players from America play against a team of players from around the world. It's sponsored by the NFL."

Richardson transferred from Ensworth to Pearl-Cohn in late October for academic reasons. According to his father, Richardson is making all A's at his new school.

Richardson is ranked as the top prospect in Tennessee and the 74th prospect nationally by
