2009 QB making a name for himself
It is not often that a high school sophomore can honestly say that he has never eaten a fast food hamburger or had a soft drink. However, Friendswood (TX) High School quarterback Jacob Karam is no ordinary high school sophomore.
The 6-foot-2, 190 pound quarterback has already accomplished a huge feat on the football field for head coach Steve Van Meter's Mustangs. This past season Karam became the first sophomore to start under center in the history of the school. That is an impressive feat considering that current college quarterbacks Jeff Ballard (TCU) and T.J. Jordan (Fordham) are just two recent signal-callers to come out of the 4A school south of Houston.
While Garrett Gilbert and Russell Shepard have garnered most of the early talk about the top quarterbacks in Texas for 2009, Karam is making a strong case to be included in the discussion
