Mitchell grabbing all kinds of attention

Despite his 5-foot-10, 165-pound frame, Tampa (Fla.) Hillsborough cornerback Terrence Mitchell has earned quite the nickname - his friends and teammates call him "T-Rex."

Apparently Mitchell plays a lot bigger than his size.

"It is because I am aggressive," Mitchell said. "I am a monster on the field, that's why they call me that."

Something else quite monstrous about Mitchell is his offer list, as the total number of scholarship offers has reached in the neighborhood of 30.

Mitchell, a member of the Rivals100 ranked at No. 86, has received offers from schools like Ohio State, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Illinois, Miami, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Rutgers, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, and plenty of others.

"The recruiting process is going really well," Mitchell said. "I have been getting interest from a ton of different schools. It is going really well."

One offer Mitchell said he was excited about was the one from Ohio State, which he said he received around two weeks ago.

"I got it probably like two weeks ago," Mitchell said. "It was a verbal offer though. They haven't sent me the paper in the mail yet. They said they sent it, but I just haven't gotten it yet."

Despite having scholarship offers from just about every elite school in the country, Mitchell did say the Buckeyes' offer caught his attention.

"I am really interested in Ohio State. They are a top program," Mitchell said. "I am very interested in Ohio State."

Representatives from Ohio State visited Mitchell at his school a few weeks ago, which was something Mitchell enjoyed. The cornerback hopes to stay in steady contact with members of the Ohio State coaching staff as time progresses.

"I have only talked to the coach one time when he came to my school and I haven't really talked to him since. I don't remember his name," Mitchell said. "He is my recruiting coach, I know that, but I just can't remember his name. He said he would e-mail me though, so I am waiting for that so I can stay in contact with them."

Like one could imagine, it isn't an easy task to narrow down a list of schools that has reached as high of a number as 30 and Mitchell said he knows it wont be easy. While there are certain schools that do stick out to Mitchell, he said he has everyone on a pretty even level as of now.

"It can be overwhelming sometimes," Mitchell said. "You can't let it go to your head. You just have to think about what schools would be the best for you. The school that is best for me is the one I will pick."

One requirement for Mitchell is his ability to be a member of his potential college's track team at the next level.

"All the schools that offered me that don't have track programs, I am knocking them off," Mitchell said, "then, I will go from there."

As of now, Mitchell did say Ohio State is a school that he is pretty interested in. Mitchell's summer plans in terms of visits have yet to be determined.

"I am very interested," Mitchell said. "They are one of the schools I am going to look into a lot."
