Foster left 'amazed'

Five-star linebacker Reuben Foster said Sunday he didn't come back to Athens simply to hang out with friends.

The Alabama commit said he did so with a distinct purpose in mind.

Yes, there's no question that Georgia coach Mark Richt would love nothing better than to flip Foster from the Crimson Tide. The Bulldogs' interest in Foster has remained strong throughout the process.

It's also a fact that Foster has been to Athens now on a number of occasions. But despite his familiarity with the program, there's still one major question he wanted to get answered.

"I wanted to know is it real, is it true do they really want me there?" Foster said. "That's what I was trying to find out. I just wanted to find out if they will treat me with respect should I go."

Apparently, Foster came away convinced.

"Oh yeah," said Foster, who confirmed he will definitely be back in Athens for Dawg Nite on July 13.

During his three-day visit to Athens, which concluded Sunday, Foster said he met with Richt, along with Bulldog assistants Tony Ball, Bryan McClendon and inside linebackers coach Kirk Olivadotti.

He also got to spend time with a number of Bulldog defensive players, including linebacker Christian Robinson.

"It was amazing," Foster said of his trip. "We went out, met a lot of people, met some of the players, met a lot of the fans, and all that."

So what does Foster's future hold?

Recently, best friend and Bulldog commit Tray Matthews claimed that he, Foster and Norcross running back Alvin Kamara will play collegiately for the same team.

Sunday, Foster said that's still the plan.

"Yeah, it is," said Foster, who along with Matthews, is also being vigorously pursued by Auburn. "I'm definitely going to play with Tray - period, no matter what the school."
