1T. DB – Gerome Sapp
Houston Lamar
Signed with Notre Dame
2001 season – Sapp played in nine games during his junior season and was the team’s 7th leading tackler with 36 stops.

2001 season – Warren earned All Big honors after posting 41 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and four sacks during his junior season.

2001 season – Ellis sat out last season while recovering from injuries.
Overall – Ellis returned to the 40 Acres this spring and will back-up Bo Scaife at tight end. Although he’s been a solid player during his career, he’s yet to live up to the high expectations that many, including myself, had for him when he arrived at Texas.
5. DB - Jason Frederick
Houston Cy Falls
Signed with Texas A&M
2001 season – Spent last season as aback-up linebacker for Sam Houston State.

Cleveland
Signed with Texas
2001 season – Williams started several games for the Longhorns last season, before finally turning the starting job over to freshman sensation Cedric Benson. For the season, Williams rushed for 519 yards and five touchdowns.
Overall – Williams has been a bit of an enigma from the day he first set foot on campus. At times, he’s performed like one of the Big 12’s best backs and on other occasions he seems caught between running styles. Last season was his chance to trake the running back job by the horns and he failed to hold off Benson. Barring injuries, he’ll likely finish his career as a back-up.
8. CB – Roderick Babers
Houston Lamar
Signed with Texas
2001 season – In his third year as a starter, Babers proved to be one of the Big 12’s best cornerbacks, recording 40 tackles, one interception and 17 pass breakups.

Overall – Was being billed as an All-America candidate on the offensive line front by Tennessee when he suddenly transferred in the spring of 2000. Oddly, he was moved to defense at SFA and hasn’t been an impact player.

17. OL – Robbie Doane
Coppell
Signed with Texas
2000 season – Doane started every game at left tackle for the Longhorns during his junior season.

2001 season – McClintock red-shirted last season after injuring his hand in a accident during the summer of 2001.

Austin Lanier
Signed with Oklahoma
2001 season – Was one of the Big 12’s top defensive backs in 2001, recording 54 tackles and three interceptions.

23. TE – Chad Stevens
Houston Cy Fair
Signed with Texas
2001 season – Stevens spent his junior season as a back-up at fullback for the Longhorns.
Overall – Stevens has bounced around from tight and fullback during his career, and he will enter his senior season at tight end, where he’ll be counted on as the primary blocker at the position for the Longhorns.
