Chris Brown gives Texas another DB commitment

In today's game of college football, defensive backs have to be versatile. Safeties have to be able to cover like cornerbacks, and cornerbacks have to be physical enough to match up with big receivers on the outside.

Texas picked up a commitment from Chris Brown on Wednesday morning, a player who can line up all over the secondary.

The Houston Elsik product chose Texas over Florida and Michigan in a move that was expected by most with the Longhorns having surged to the top of Brown's recruitment in recent weeks.

After Brown took an official visit to Texas on January 22, all signs pointed to him choosing the Longhorns and he made it official on Wednesday morning, adding to an incredible Signing Day run by UT.

"He's kind of a combination safety/corner but I think he's more natural at safety," said Rivals.com regional recruiting analyst Jason Howell. "He can give some versatility in that defensive backfield in a bunch of roles."

The 5-11, 190-pound Brown is a three-star prospect and ranks No. 73 on the 2016 Lone Star Recruiting Top 100.
