Committed or not Shipley Has the Answers

It’s been a long, tough recruiting road for Burnet, Texas wide receiver Jordan Shipley.
The record-setting receiver committed to Texas very early in the recruiting process, but he swayed back and forth a bit with the idea of taking his talent to Texas Tech, where he’d be reunited with good friend and fellow record-setter Graham Harrell.

After months of rumors and speculation, Shipley is ready to put everything to rest - he’s sticking with his commitment to the Longhorns.
Mack Brown and his staff finally stabilized the shaky situation with a positive in-home visit this week, which was followed by Shipley’s official visit to Austin this weekend.
“I’m done,” Shipley said. “The visit went pretty good. I had some questions, but they were answered when Coach Brown came to my house this week and I had a real good visit this weekend. Everything feels real good. I’m not going to take any more visits and I’m not going to take any more phone calls (from other schools). I’m going to Texas.”
The news of Shipley’s solid commitment is music to the ears of Texas fans and coaches alike. According to Shipley, National Signing Day can’t get here soon enough.
“What is it - February 4th,” Shipley asked. “It can’t get here soon enough. I’ll be so happy when the phone calls stop.”
As for his visit this weekend, Shipley said a number of things stood out.
“My host was David Thomas and we got along well,” Shipley said. “We just kind of hung out and had a good time. A bunch of us went bowling last night and that was a lot of fun. None of us are any good. We were all pretty terrible.”
Shipley added that a nice steak dinner also ranks high on his list of positive memories taken from the visit.
“We went to Ruth’s Chris and that was great,” Shipley said.
