Jamal Adams has big visits set for this week
Thursday was a busy day for Lewisville (Texas) Hebron's Jamal Adams.
As one of the top defensive backs in the 2014 class, Adams entered Thursday already holding offers from Notre Dame, Nebraska, TCU and West Virginia. Then he received word from the Texas Longhorns that he held an official offer from UT.

"It's a blessing," Adams said. "To know that you're one of the top safeties on their list. Knowing Texas is one of the top colleges in the NCAA, with a great coaching staff, a rich history … It's a blessing to get an offer from Texas."
Before receiving the Texas offer, the Longhorns were high on Adams' list. With the offer in hand, where do things stand between Adams and the Longhorns?
"I have Texas up there. I'm really interested in Texas. I'm really high on them," Adams said. "I'm high on everybody who has offered me right now. I really don't have a top five or top 10, but I know Texas is up there."
It also does not hurt that Texas not only let him know he was wanted, but that he could also play either safety or cornerback in their secondary. The Longhorns were not alone though. Thursday was also the day Adams received word from the Oklahoma Sooners.
"Oklahoma, they called and want me to go up there and check them out so we'll see," Adams said.
It was at that time that the highly coveted 6-1, 195-pound defender decided it was time to hit the road. Adams will take two visits this week. On Wednesday he will visit Norman, Okla., and on Saturday he will make his way to Austin, Texas.
The visits will not be his first trips. He attended summer camps at both Texas and Alabama. He knows what to expect, and he knows what he will be looking for this time around.
"The facilities, academics and seeing how that works, checking out the teams' practices, and having a good time out there and getting to know the coaches more," he said.
Adams was not shy about both Texas and Alabama being among his top schools, but was quick to point out that it is still early in the process and he is not in a hurry to make a decision.
"No, I'm going to wait it out," Adams said of the decision making process. "I've talked to my family and a couple of my coaches, and I'm just going to wait it out and see how many offers I can get and see what is the right school for me."
