Coming into last weekend, the Texas Longhorns had two defensive line commitments in the 2019 class. The staff was hoping to add a couple more and Texas played host to two of the Horns’ top targets, defensive ends Myron Warren and Jacoby Jones.

On Monday, Warren decided he had seen enough after his Saturday trip to Austin, announcing he has given the Longhorns a verbal commitment.

Texas had been surging with the 6-4, 230-pound Warren ever since the Longhorns offered a scholarship in early October. When Texas offered, Warren was committed to TCU, but he quickly re-opened his recruitment and began to explore other options. Warren visited LSU the first weekend of November and made quick plans to be in Austin for last weekend’s Iowa State game. Even before making his way to Austin, Warren told Orangebloods.com that Texas was sitting atop his list, and he gave indication behind the scenes while on his UT visit that Texas was closing in on a commitment. On Monday, he made it official.

A physical, athletic playmaker along the defensive line, Warren becomes Texas’ third defensive line commitment, joining T’Vondre Sweat and Peter Mpagi. He is the Longhorns’ 21st commitment in the 2019 class. A three-star prospect, Warren had been receiving attention from the likes of Nebraska, Oregon and Mississippi State after re-opening his recruitment. In the end, it was the Longhorns who won out.

Texas’ 2019 recruiting class currently ranks No. 6 nationally. Warren plans to return to Austin for an official visit the weekend of December 14.
