As soon as former Clemson safety Andrew Mukuba announced that he was entering the transfer portal, it seemed like a near forgone conclusion that Mukuba would wind up committing to the Texas Longhorns.
Mukuba made it official moments ago, announcing that he is indeed transferring to the University of Texas.
In his three years at Clemson, Mukuba earned freshman all-America honors and compiled 149 tackles, 20 pass break-ups, two fumble recoveries and one interception over 35 games.
Mukuba’s experience and talent should make him an immediate and valuable contributor for a Texas secondary that had a need at safety. He’ll slide into the safety rotation with Derek Williams and Michael Taaffe and should challenge for a starting role.
He becomes the Longhorns’ second transfer portal addition, joining wide receiver Matthew Golden, who committed on Saturday.
