There's no question that recruiting hasn't exactly gone as planned for the Texas Longhorns this year, especially with several key loses torival Oklahoma.
For a school that's not used to losing recruiting battles, the Texas coaching staff has taken notice and this weekend they also took action.
For the first time in the history of Mack Brown's reign at Texas, the Longhorns hosted a Junior Day in the month of January. Among those on hand were Longview wide receiver Malcolm Kelly, Lufkin running back Jorvorski Lane and Jim Ned quarterback Colt McCoy.
"There were about 16 of us there," Kelly, who is regarded as the state's No.1 wide receiver prospect for the Class of 2005, said. "It was pretty tight. It definitely brought me a little closer to (Texas).
