Who would have thought after the first six games of the season the Longhorns would be on pace to having one of the worst statistical defenses in Texas football history? The woes on this defense goes beyond young, and even beyond poor tackling.
"The problem is we're too careful on defense." Senior DE Alex Okafor said Monday. "And we're not throwing our bodies. We're expecting somebody else to make the play. It comes from effort and we have to change that."
I asked Okafor how can this team change the careful mentality six games into the season. "You have to do it at practice. You have to throw your body around at practice like you are going to do in a game. And it has to become second nature for the effort to be there."
