2025 four-star DeSoto (Texas) defensive back Sael Reyes just moved to Texas earlier this offseason from St. Louis, but he is no stranger to the Lone Star State. His older brother, Antonio Johnson, was an All-SEC safety at Texas A&M.

Reyes is excited to get the opportunity to play in the state of Texas after visiting his brother in College Station over the past few years. The blue chip defender just completed his first spring in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, and his expectations have already been exceeded.

“I’m very excited (to be in Texas). This is my first time being in an atmosphere like this. It’s very impressive,” said Reyes. “Every time that I came down here for my brother, I never wanted to go back. Texas football is big.”

Johnson is now off to the NFL, while Reyes is in the process of being recruited by some of the premier programs in college football. That includes Texas, which offered in March when Reyes took an unofficial visit to the 40 Acres.

“That’s one of my dream schools,” Reyes told OB about the Longhorns. “I always saw them a lot on TV when I was younger. I’ve been talking to the coaches and stuff, and they’ve been showing me a lot of love. So, that’s perfect.”

Of course, Texas A&M has had multiple opportunities to make an impression on Reyes to this point. Therefore, the Aggies are also an early contender for the defensive back.

“They’re always showing me that I’m family. I’ve been around them a lot since I was younger,” Reyes said.

Now situated in Texas, Reyes is looking forward to learning more about the other programs involved in his recruitment. He is planning to visit Texas, Arkansas, LSU, Oklahoma, and Oregon during the summer.

Rivals ranks Sael Reyes as the No. 108 prospect in the 2025 recruiting cycle. He is the No. 18 recruit in Texas and the No. 9 safety in the nation for his class.
