Dallas Highland Park defensive end Prince Dorbah has a lot of recruiting fans hanging on his every word and evaluating his every move. It makes sense ... he’s one of the top prospects in the Lone Star State, and several programs in the region have made Dorbah a top priority.

If you’re looking for a quick answer to where Dorbah will wind up, he has a message … you’re going to have to wait.

The standout defender has taken some visits over the last year and while the recruiting process will pick up soon enough for him, he doesn’t have any visits on the calendar and likely won’t add any until he finishes up his basketball commitments.

“I’m kind of in my downtime right now since basketball is over for me. I’ll be starting AAU basketball but I’m just trying to take everything slow right now and just enjoy the time I have off,” Dorbah said. “After AAU basketball is over, that’s when I’ll look forward to taking visits.” The 6-4, 215-pound Dorbah does plan to take his official visits in the spring and said he’ll likely trim his list of favorites over the summer. He doesn’t have a firm date in mind to have a final decision.

The Texas Longhorns are one of the schools in hot pursuit, and though he’s keeping an open mind, Dorbah said Texas is a school he’s strongly considering.

“Right now I wouldn’t say I’m leaning anywhere. I love any school that wants to offer me, gives me an opportunity. I’m going to look at every school that I feel like is the best place for me. Right now, I’m just looking at the schools that are showing me more love like Texas, OU, LSU, Arkansas and a bunch of other schools that have offered me since I was a sophomore,” Dorbah said.

Texas assistant coaches Oscar Giles and Tim Beck are staying in steady contact with Dorbah, and in January he was in Austin for an unofficial visit. As for what stands out about the Longhorns, Dorbah said there’s a lot to like.

“Overall, everything. They have everything you need to get better,” he said. “The coaching staff is perfect, everything they have is good for you. Right now, for me, it’s not what they have or what they have to show me, it’s just building the relationship. I want to have a healthy, strong relationship to see if I can see myself there in the future. That’s pretty much the only thing on my mind right now.”

Due to his range and versatility, the Texas staff has talked to Dorbah about using him in a variety of ways.

“They’d like to use me in a lot of schemes, bring me off the edge, drop me back in coverage, play all over the field, cause defenses problems and just fly around and make plays,” Dorbah said.

Last weekend, Dorbah took part in The Opening Dallas regional, where he got a chance to test his skills against some of the top talent in the region. Dorbah held up well, showing an explosive first step off the edge in one-on-one drills.

“I felt like I had a good camp. We came out here and competed, had fun,” Dorbah said. “Everyone was trying to come out and show what they have. That was the good thing about it, everyone just came out here and compete. It’s fun. Everyone is going against the best. That’s how you get better. Iron sharpens iron.”
