Texas Recruiting Update: Lyle Sendlein
Scottsdale (Arizona) Chaparral star Lyle Sendlein is heading to Austin on Friday as one of the top defensive line prospects in the entire nation.
When he flies back to Arizona on June 6, he hopes he'll return as a future Texas Longhorn.
"There's no question that I want to become a Longhorn," Sendlein, who is son of former Texas star Robin Sendlein and brother of current UT linebacker Austin Sendlein, said. "I most definitely hoping for an offer and if I get one I'll jump on it right away."
Despite the fact that a scholarship offers seems like a sure bet, Sendlein is not taking anything for granted.
"I play linebacker in high school and have never played on the defensive line before," Sendlein said. "I'm going to go there and bust my ass and show them that I can be a good player and leader."
Among the schools that covet the 6-4, 270-pound Sendlein are Notre dame, Florida, Nebraska, Penn State and Michigan.
"My goal is to earn a scholarship and that's what I'm going there for," Sendlein said.
