Rivals250 wide receiver Javian Hester says he’s considering about 10 schools. After a February visit to Texas in which he picked up a scholarship, Hester said the Longhorns are one of the schools drawing strong consideration.

“They fit in well. They’re on my top list. I really like it down there,” Hester said. “I like the coaches, how I vibe with them and just how they are. The facilities, they have everything that I need to get better.”

Hester took an unofficial visit to Texas in February and said immediately after that trip that the Longhorns made a strong move on his list. He’s hoping to return to Austin soon, although he does not have a date locked in. As for official visits, the 6-4, 180-pound standout said he only knows of one that he’ll for sure be taking, a trip to Michigan in the fall so he can see former Tulsa Booker T. Washington teammate Daxton Hill, a member of the Wolverines’ 2019 class.

As for Texas, Hester said he stays in close contact with the UT staff. He predominantly communicates with wide receivers coach Drew Mehringer, and said the two have developed a strong relationship.

“I talk to coach Mehringer every week. They offered me, so we really just talk about anything,” Hester said. “It’s more just talking personal stuff than it is player and coach. That’s what I like.”

Hester, who ranks No. 105 nationally, said he’ll probably trim his list to about five schools late in the summer or in September. He wants to take his time with the recruiting process overall.

When he visited Texas, he was joined by friends Myles Slusher and Sevion Morrison. That trio has expressed a desire to play together in college, but Hester said those plans are flexible.

“We’re really locked in. We’re still trying to get some more offers from schools we like. But if it comes down to not all going to the same school, it just is what it is,” Hester said.

On Sunday, Hester excelled at the Rivals 3-Stripe Camp in Coppell, earning himself an invitation to the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge.
