Texas victory over Iowa State means more than just a win

Texas chose the perfect weekend to break the early game slump in honor of Darrell Royal. The Longhorns suffered an emotional week with the loss of Coach Royal, and Mack Brown opened up on what Coach Royal meant to him.

"When I found out we lost coach, I just wasn't ready for it." Mack Brown said after the Longhorns win over Iowa State. "I just sat down on the floor and cried. I couldn't talk to you all, I couldn't talk to anybody. I lost a huge part of my life. I think whether I realized it or not at the time, Coach Royal filled a void in my life when I lost my dad and granddad four months before I came here. He's just been such a great friend."

The Longhorns held Iowa State to 277 yards and one touchdown. After the Baylor game, senior defensive end Alex Okafor said he has no confidence in the defense's ability to stop the run.
