It is already week 10 of the 2021 Texas High School Football season. The playoffs are just around the corner, and teams are battling for postseason position. This season has been good to numerous Texas commits and priority targets.
Running back Jamarion Miller is on pace to break school records, offensive tackle Connor Robertson is playing a big role in the state’s top-ranked team, Austin Westlake, success, and Maalik Murphy continues to look the part of a blue-chip quarterback.
Murphy put on a big performance for Junipero Serra (Ca.) last Friday. The Rivals250 four-star quarterback completed 73-percent of his passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns in a 30-10 victory.
Miller, meanwhile, ran while for 131 yards and three touchdowns in Tyler Legacy’s 42-20 victory over North Mesquite. The Rivals250 tailback has been committed to the Longhorns since the summer, but Alabama is a team pushing for the East Texas standout.
Robertson helped Austin Westlake improve to 8-0 on the season with a 55-6 win over Akins. The Texas pledge, along with 2023 4-star offensive lineman TJ Shanahan Jr., paved the way for 142 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
2023 target Jaden Greathouse hauled in four receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown for the Chaps.
Texas High improved to 8-0 on the season after defeating Jacksonville 42-7. UT commit Derrick Brown held Jacksonville scoreless for three of the four quarters. Brown is one of the biggest recruiters in the Longhorns’ 2022 class.
Lewisville also remained undefeated after beating Coppell 38-15 on Friday. 4-star wide receiver commit Armani Winfield hauled in seven catches for 138 yards – good for nearly 20 yards per reception. Winfield is a game-breaking wideout that is still hearing from the likes of Michigan State, despite his commitment to the ‘Horns.
Denton Ryan moved to 7-1 on the season with a 55-14 victory over Frisco Heritage. Texas commit Austin Jordan grabbed three passes for 25 yards and added three tackles on the defensive side of the ball. Top 2023 target Anthony Hill also played both ways in the Raiders win.
Justice Finkley had a team-high 10 tackles, including a tackle-for-loss in a Hewitt-Trussville (AL) win. Fellow out-of-state defensive line commit Aaron Bryant helped lead the Southaven (MS) defense to a 47-7 victory.
Also on the defense, Anthony Jones made three tackles in a dominant Henderson (NV) 49-7 win. Zac Swanson recorded one sack, three QB hurries, and two tackles-for-loss in a 21-0 victory last week.
