Several Texas commitments and top recruiting targets have been lighting up the field so far in the 2021 high school football season. Jamarion Miller is right around the 100-yard rushing mark every week, and Evan Stewart has continued to back up his 5-star rating each time that he steps onto the field.

Longhorns quarterback commit Maalik Murphy is sidelined with a right clavicle injury, while linebacker pledge Trevell Johnson had season-ending surgery on his hip. Murphy had some impressive performances prior to his injury and should be back on the field sooner rather than later.

Lewisville had a BYE week, meaning 4-star Texas wide receiver commit Armani Winfield and 2024 Texas target Jaydan Hardy did suit up on Friday. The Farmers are 3-0 on the season, and Winfield had an impressive 3-catch, 142-yard, 2-touchdown performance in week three.

Eoghan Kerry, Cole Hutson, Will Stone, Lance St. Louis, and Derrick Brown were also off. Kristopher Ross, meanwhile, is dealing with an injury and did not play for North Shore in week four. Brenen Thompson suffered an injury that has him sidelined for Spearman, too.

Jamarion Miller was held out of the end zone as the Allen defense, led by 5-star Texas target DJ Hicks, focused on limiting his impact. Still, the 4-star Texas commit did rush for 91 yards on 13 carries, averaging seven yards per carry. Texas Tech commit Bryson Donnell scored four touchdowns for Tyler Legacy, while top-30 2023 prospect Jordan Renaud made five tackles and ran for a first down on a fake punt.

Hicks was credited with seven total tackles, including four tackles-for-loss. He also had a sack and was a constant force for the Eagles all game long. 4-star UT target Neto Umeozulu paved the way for 319 yards on the ground in the 49-28 Allen victory. Steve Sarkisian and Pete Kwiatkowski were in attendance on Thursday.

In Denton, Ryan dominated Denton High to the tune of 55-28. Texas commit Austin Jordan grabbed a 45-yard pick-six, while UT target Anthony Hill was credited with seven tackles, including five solo.

In Las Vegas, Anthony Jones and Liberty (NV) defeated Legacy (NV) 48-7 in a blowout victory for Jones. The Texas commit was credited with a pair of tackles, including a tackle-for-loss.

Arch Manning made his 2021 debut last week, and the top overall player in the 2023 class did not disappoint by any stretch. Manning threw for 328 yards and accounted for all four of Isidore Newman’s (LA) touchdowns – three passing and one rushing – in a 28-0 win.

Fellow top 2023 Texas target Rueben Owens carried the ball 14 times for 187 yards and three touchdowns in El Campo’s dominant 70-21 win over Wharton on Friday.

In the DFW, DeSoto and Duncanville squared off in a matchup loaded with talent last Friday. Texas target Johntay Cook hauled in the first touchdown of the game – a 99-yard catch and run. For Duncanville, Omari Abor did not suit up in the Panthers’ win, as Abor is dealing with an upper-body injury.

Also of note, UT assistants Jeff Banks and Kyle Flood were in the house for the game.

Arlington Martin, without Trevell Johnson on the field, fell to Southlake Carroll 31-7 on Friday. UT target Javien Toviano scored the only touchdown on the night for Martin. Toviano also made a pair of tackles on the defensive side of the ball.

Harold Perkins turned in another impressive performance last week. The elite linebacker prospect scored three total touchdowns – two rushing and one receiving – for Cy Park in a dominant 62-7 victory over Cy Springs. Perkins was in town for the Longhorns’ win over Rice.

In Frisco, priority target Evan Stewart continued to dominate. Stewart had four catches for 102 yards and a touchdown while adding another score on the ground in a 56-38 Frisco Liberty win over Frisco Memorial.
