In talking with a high-level university source on Thursday evening, here's where things stand with the Longhorns and discussions with Urban Meyer to become the new Texas football coach:

a. There continues to be a quiet confidence about the groundwork that has been done. I don't want to dare say that there's an alignment between Meyer and Texas officials, but there doesn't seem to be much nervousness about what is coming out on the Internet vs. what’s communicated behind the scenes with Meyer.

b. Before anything else can happen, Texas is waiting to hear back from Meyer about whether he wants to get back into coaching. The answer to that question ...
