It wouldn’t be a Tom Herman Big 12 game at Texas if it wasn’t tight and came down to the final minutes, and like last week, the Football Gods smiled down on Herman’s Longhorns. Am I looking forward to watching this one again? No. Once was a enough because the second half looked like two teams who didn’t deserve to win the game. In the end, Texas made just enough plays and received more breaks than its opponent.
Three things before a rewatch…
1) On a day when his offensive line held its own better than I expected, Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger was very up-and-down, again, as a passer with more downs than ups. Frankly, he wasn’t good. Texas won despite his performance, which might have looked a tad different late if not for a crucial drop. Regardless, Ehlinger didn’t look right. Again. He looks like a pitcher focusing too much on his mechanics and trying to be perfect instead of letting the ball rip and being comfortable in what he’s seeing.
Perhaps he’s really, really banged up. Maybe it’s both. But today was not a step forward for the Texas offense, except for…
2) I’m going to enjoy watching Bijan Robinson during a second viewing. I’m not going to enjoy being limited in my views of Robinson...
