T.J. Ford
(Men's Basketball)

Earl Campbell. Ricky Williams. Tommy Nobis. As you compile a list of names that is synonymous with Texas athletics, you’ll find a lot of former football players and not much else. However, after only two seasons on the 40 Acres, sophomore point guard T. J. Ford has created a place for himself in Longhorn lore that will be everlasting. After a season that saw Ford lead the Longhorns to their first Final Four appearance in the modern age of basketball, while becoming the first Longhorn to ever win both the Wooden and Naismith Awards, the dynamic guard has secured a place on the Longhorn’s version of Mount Rushmore. The third player in school history to earn consensus first-team All-America honors, Ford led the team in scoring (15.0 ppg), assists (7.7 apg), steals (2.0 spg), free throw percentage (.820) and minutes played (33.6 mpg) during the 2002-03 season. He recorded nine double-digit assist performances this past season and ranks second on UT's all-time career assists list (527). But, more important than numbers, Ford almost single-handedly made it cool for basketball players to ant to come to Texas and his presence in the program has helped set the stage for even bigger and better things in the future.
